2/1/22             Outstanding Senior High Youth Award                               (Attached)

                              The Outstanding Senior High Youth Award is presented by the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Council (ESA) and Ohio State Council (OSC) of ESA. The OSC presents the state winner with a $500.00 check.  The state winner forwarded to the ESA Outstanding Youth Chair and committee for review and determination of winner of a $1,000.00 scholarship. Students must have a minimum 3.0GPA to apply.
 

2/25/22          AAA School Safety Patrol Grant                                                                          (File Attached)

The Ohio Auto Club is again offering high school seniors the opportunity to apply for one of five $1000 grants. Five of the ten finalists will receive a $250 reward. The program is limited to high school seniors who once served as a member of the AAA Safety Patrol. Applicants must write a 500-word essay and provide information about their safety patrol experience. This grant is not based on financial need.

 

03/01/22      Berkshire Hathaway Scholarship   (Attached)

The Berkshire Hathaway Scholarship is a $1000 renewable award. High school seniors with a 3.0GPA, leadership, volunteerism, and character are encouraged to apply. This is a trade school or college scholarship opportunity that will present three awards.  

 

3/1/22             College Club of Canton Scholarship/Loan                       www.collegeclubofcanton.org

Each year the College Club of Canton extends to at least one deserving FEMALE student a grant/loan. The amount is determined annually.

 

3/1/22             First Commonwealth Bank Scholarship                         www.fcbanking.com/scholarship                       

The First Commonwealth Bank is offering thirty-five $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Applicants must complete a short essay on how they put their community first by their community involvement and how they put their academics first by excelling in the classroom.  

 

3/1/22           OAPSE/AFSCME Memorial Scholarship                            www.oapse.org

The OAPSE/AFSCME Memorial Scholarship Program is available to children whose parent or legal guardian is a member in good standing of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4/AFL-CIO). Under the program, scholarships of $2,500.00 each are awarded to one winner from each of the ten (10) OAPSE Districts selected from the applicants who meet the eligibility requirements.

The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) is offering a $1000 renewable scholarship to students who have a career goal in the crude oil or natural gas industry. Fifty students were selected last year for this scholarship.

The United Way of Greater Stark County is offering several $1000 renewable scholarships to be used for textbooks. You must be a first-generation college student to apply.      

 

3/25/22          Canton Lincoln High School Alumni Association              www.cantonlincolnhighschool.org          

 

The Canton Lincoln Scholarship awards numerous deserving students $750 who are descendants of graduates or attendees of Canton Lincoln Junior or Senior High School. A separate scholarship from the Rumberger Foundation for a one time award of $5000 is also available to five Canton Lincoln Junior or High School descendants.   Applications for both scholarships are available on the website above. Applicants are encouraged to apply for both scholarships, so that if denied one, they may be eligible for the other. 

 

3/25/22          Joseph & Rhea Jeffries Memorial Scholarship   www.josephajeffries.com/scholarship.html

The Jeffries Memorial Scholarship will be granted to two Stark County students who have demonstrated academic achievement, character, leadership, and service to school and community. This is a $750 scholarship award. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.6 on a 4.0 scale. Application

 

3/25/22           33 JordynStrong FoundationScholarship                              

The 33 Jordyn Strong Foundation is offering three $5000 scholarships. These are in remembrance of a Jackson Middle School student who passed away from leukemia. The three categories for scholarships include:

Student-athlete who played a sport for 4-years in high school.

3/31/22          Richard T. Naples, Sr. Education Foundation                               (attached)   

The Richard T. Naples, Sr. Education Foundation will award scholarships in the amount of $800 to thirty students who reside in Trumbull, Mahoning, or Stark County. Students who will be attending colleges, universities, trade schools, or vocational schools are eligible and encouraged to apply. A minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale is required.

 

4/01/22          BBB Life Lessons Essay Contest          bit.ly/CantonBBBLifeLessonsEssayContest        

The Better Business Bureau Life Lessons is a theme-based essay contest that challenges current high school seniors to reflect on living a life of integrity and ethics. The essays are submitted online and reviewed by a panel of judges. The top six essays are then awarded scholarships ranging from $500 - $2,500. This scholarship is limited to students in the counties of Stark, Tuscarawas, and Carroll.

The Stark Community Foundation is one of the area's major sources of college scholarship support. Offering 100 diverse scholarships, these opportunities are made possible by generous individuals, families and businesses to benefit students from Stark and Carroll counties.

4/15/22          Paul & Carol David Foundation Scholar Program                                  www.davidscholar.org

The David Scholar Program awards annual scholarships to eligible students attending an accredited college or university in the United States. The purpose of the program is to aid and assist qualified graduating high school students from Stark County who, due to significant financial constraints, would find it difficult to further their education. The annual scholarship award is $7,000, renewable for up to four years for a total of $28,000. See your school counselor for more information.

The Canton Student Loan Foundation offers low interest loans to Stark County high school graduates. The application is available online for electronic submission.

This renewable scholarship will range in amount from $1500 and up per academic year. Students who wish to pursue an associate or bachelor degree in a STEMM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medicine) are eligible to apply for scholarships from one of 40 Ohio colleges, universities, or technical schools. Eligibility and deadlines vary by institution. All participating schools are linked to the website above with contact information.

Scholarship Information
Scholarship information is available and updated on a weekly basis in the Guidance Office and on the high school website. Counselors will be available to assist students with this process.

  • Be aware of deadlines and make sure applications are submitted before the due dates.
  • Families seeking financial aid are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after October 1st. Visit the  FAFSA homepage for more information.
  • Nearly all colleges and universities offer scholarships through their financial aid offices. A separate application is sometimes required and the application deadline may be different from the admission application deadline. Consult the college admission office or their website for this information.
  • There are many scholarships available and search engines to help you find them. See the local and national scholarship search links in the main menu.
  • Remember to check with parents' employers, student's employers, churches, and any organizations or clubs you may be involved in for available scholarships.
  • Be wary of services that guarantee you scholarship money for a fee - it's usually a scam!
  • Your school counselor is available to assist you at any time.

Stark Community Foundation is one of Stark County's major sources of college scholarship support. Last year, the Foundation connected 380 students with $487,913 in college scholarships. The website features over 100 funds, each varying by the deadline date, criteria for selection, eligibility requirements and application information.
