Good evening Leopards!
This is Superintendent Michele Shaffer.
I met with county superintendents and administrators again last week to discuss plans for reopening school in the fall. It is our understanding that the Governor will be announcing his guidelines this Tuesday. Thank you for participating in our back to school survey. We had over 1600 participants representing an even cross-section of grade levels. We appreciate all of the feedback, especially the open response suggestions and comments. We will share the results of our district survey on Monday.
While survey responses hold a lot of weight in the decision-making process, it’s important to remember that final decisions will be based on a variety of factors within the best interests of our students, staff, and community.
If you have not received your Paw Print newsletter it should arrive early this week. You will see some information on the front page explaining three options the board is considering for the upcoming school levy. The Board of Education has no other option but to seek funds for district operations and needs your feedback.
The link to the survey of levy options is available on our website. The Board of Education will use the results to determine which option will be on the November ballot. The deadline is July 8.
Our last Grab and Go meal service was June 25. We have served nearly 83,000 meals since March 18. We will have a list of organizations on our Facebook page and website that are offering meal and food assistance over the summer including a few area school districts who are able to continue to provide the service due to their percentage of families qualifying for free or reduced lunch.
I will not have an all call next weekend due to the holiday. I wish you and your family a Happy 4th of July!
As always, please continue to check our website and Facebook pages for updates and information. Have a great evening!
