Start With Hello Week
In every school and in every community, there are young people who feel left out, alone or invisible. Social isolation is a common problem and this week we are all participating in the Start with Hello program to help eliminate this at Louisville Schools! Start with Hello week will help the students reach out and include others and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness at our schools. Remember we are in this together and it only takes ONE hello to make
Monday- Sept. 25th- Today the students will receive name tags. They must wear the name tags throughout the school day until they get home. Today is all about “Saying hello to people we might not know”-challenge yourself to say hello to at least 5 new people and use names all day long. (Click here for a handout on how to say Hello )
Tuesday-Sept. 26th- Today the students should try to sit with someone else at lunch. It is Mix it up Day. Mix it up and make a new friend! Students are encouraged to line up with a new friend before leaving the classroom for lunch.
Wednesday Sept. 27th- Today students will sign the “Start With Hello Week” poster in the cafeteria committing to include others and eliminate social isolation.
Thursday-Sept. 28th- Today is make a new friend day! I know you can do it- ask someone to play at recess, give someone a compliment- just be a friend to someone who might need one. If you see someone on the Buddy Bench ask them to play at recess.
Friday- Sept. 29th- Thanks for saying Hello and being a part of our great week!
Be an Upstander and be kind to one another.. Remember: A simple hello to start the day will make someone's life better in every way.
