I have been employed as a science teacher with Louisville City Schools since 2007.
MY PERSONAL SCIENCE BACKGROUND:
I have earned two college degrees in science as well as a degree in education. I was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Ohio for 11 years and I have had many opportunities to be a part of science-related work and activities. I have recently furthered my science knowledge by studying Conceptual Chemistry and Science & Careers through Kent State University.
MY PERSONAL SOCIAL STUDIES BACKGROUND:
By becoming a teacher later in life, I have already had opportunities to travel and experience other cultures. I have traveled throughout North America, the West Indies/Caribbean, and Great Britain. I hope to continue traveling and learning about our world and the people sharing it with us! Also, I have had the opportunity to own my own business and I hope to pass on information that I have learned about economics and our society.
MY READING / LANGUAGE ARTS BACKGROUND:
I have taught with both Reach out and Read and Project LEARN in Akron. Also, I have written professionally as a published author, tutored children in reading and had basic instruction with the Wilson reading methods. Most importantly...I am an avid reader!
