Basics is a FREE 6-week (6 consecutive weeks 2 hours per week) education program for parents, teachers and professionals involved with children at risk for or who have an emotional disturbance/behavioral disorder or mental illness diagnosis. Participants will gain an understanding of issues pertinent to Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Depression and Mood Disorders such as Bi-Polar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, OCD, ODD, Conduct Disorder, Schizophrenia and more. Topics covered include:
Guidance is given on locating appropriate support and services within the community and obtaining mental health services. Advocacy for appropriate federal and state policies is also included. The course is free, but registration is required. Class meets once a week for 6 weeks.

Parent Support Program
The Parent Support Program is a network for parents of children with disabilities within the geographic area of Holmes, Stark and Wayne Counties.
The Parent Support Coordinator is a parent of a child with disabilities who has had the experience of interacting effectively with schools and others to obtain appropriate services for children. The coordinator understands the district and the community and is familiar with how services are provided.
